Sosonko's Corner
Almost 30 years ago (Moscow 1974) the final of the Candidates’ matches was being played between Anatoly Karpov and Viktor Kortchnoi. In his column Genna Sosonko tells the story of how Kortchnoi played the French Defence in those days, and how he plays it now. And how he got robbed - now and then. Is there no justice?

Book Review
Glenn Flear asks the crucial question: Do we really need opening books these days? In his opinion the three books on review (Peter Wells on the Trompowsky, Chris Ward on the Nimzo-Indian and Rogozenko on the Anti-Sicilians) show we do, so that's good news for those who still like the experience of a real (rather than virtual) opening book.
